DIY for Parents gives families concrete ideas and ready-to-use activities that help them get creative with their children and make purposeful use of digital tools in everyday life. For professionals working in parenting support and adult education, the project offers tools, methods and inspiration to design suitable programmes for families and guide them through the process. All project results are tested in practice, easy to access, free of charge and available in all partner languages.
1. Methodology – A foundation for practical and digital skills
The methodological framework of DIY for Parents supports professionals in parenting work and adult education in promoting hands-on DIY skills and digital competences in family life in a targeted way. It builds on current European trends, proven practices and research on DIY, parenting education and digital media use in families, enriched by interviews with experts and parents to ensure strong links to everyday reality.From autumn 2026, it will be available in all partner languages as an open educational resource (OER) for download.
2. Toolbox – Practical guidance for families and professionals
The Toolbox provides a down-to-earth guide that links non-formal learning with creative, eco-friendly and digital activities. It offers professionals fresh inspiration and concrete methods to support families in developing practical and digital skills. Parents can use the materials to run DIY and repair projects with their children and to shape daily family life in an active, hands-on way.From summer 2027, the Toolbox will be available in all partner languages as a freely accessible OER for download.
3. Workshops – Hands-on learning on site
Our workshops get parents and children doing things together: they offer real-life DIY experiences at local level, ranging from creative repairs and upcycling to digitally supported projects. Participants can try out the methods, create concrete results together and rediscover the fun of experimenting.The workshops will take place in spring and summer 2027 in all partner countries.
4. DIY Inspiration Map – Exploring creativity across Europe
The DIY Inspiration Map showcases the rich variety of ways in which parents and children can get creative together, build practical skills and use digital tools in meaningful ways. This interactive map highlights places and initiatives from all partner countries, illustrating just how diverse DIY projects and family offers can be.It will be available from early 2027 and will be continuously updated with new ideas and best practices
