About the project
Our motivation, our partners, our journey
DIY for Parents was born from a simple observation: many families and young adults today have very limited DIY and repair skills, and shared creative activities with children rarely happen. Who still shows kids how to fix their own bike? Who sparks their curiosity to mend clothes, upcycle old things, grow and process fruit and vegetables together, turn stories into handmade books, or create objects from wood, clay and paper? Tablets and smartphones often dominate leisure time instead - reducing valuable family moments and hindering the development of creative skills.
The project aims to close this gap. Parents are invited to repair things side by side with their children, get creative together, and use digital tools in a purposeful, meaningful way in everyday family life. At the same time, educators in kindergartens, after-school and leisure programs, adult educators, family support workers, and other professionals receive guidance to inspire families to take part in joint projects and to accompany them in these learning processes.
DIY for Parents brings together traditional hands-on know-how and modern digital skills, promotes mindful media use, encourages sustainable thinking and supports a fairer sharing of practical tasks between parents. The result is not only tangible outcomes – repaired toys, small woodwork or craft projects, homemade gifts – but also quality time as a family that nurtures creativity, conscious use of resources and a deeper sense of connection.

Centrum Medyczno-Terapeutyczne Magdalena Kotowicz-Kilian (Polen)
For over 20 years, we have been supporting the mental health of children, adolescents, and adults by combining clinical experience with a modern, holistic approach to therapy. We create a safe space where mindfulness, genuine relationships, and real change matter. In our practice, we go beyond traditional methods. We integrate psychotherapy with art therapy, bodywork, nature-based activities, and creative projects that help individuals express their emotions and build inner balance. Within the DIY Parents project, we emphasize how creating things together can strengthen family bonds and support the personal development of both children and parents. We promote the „do-it-yourself” approach as an effective tool for fostering connection, stimulating creativity, and using resources mindfully.
As a partner in this Erasmus+ initiative, we combine psychological expertise with educational innovation to develop practical tools that support families in their daily lives. Because strong relationships begin with mindfulness, shared time, and collaborative activities.
